Scarlett Johansson (born November 22 1984 New York City New York, U.S.) American singer and actress whose dramatic versatility earned her praise across a range of styles from period dramas to thriller and action adventure. Johansson is the daughter of an architect and a producer, was born within New York City. Hunter was the sister of Johansson was also born in New York City. At the age of seven years old, her passion for acting had increased. She started to audition for commercials. After that, she was enrolled in the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and later attended the Professional Children's School in Manhattan to further hone her craft. In the Off-Broadway play Sophistry she worked with Ethan Hawke. She then made her first film appearance with North (1994) which was directed by Rob Reiner, at age nine. Johansson was later seen on the screen in Just Cause (1995), however, her breakthrough occurred through Manny & Lo a coming of age film about sisters fleeing. The Horse Whisperer (2000), in which she played an teen with a defect caused by an accident, earned her critical acclaim. Then in Ghost World 2001 (as the teenager who is a cynical outcast Rebecca) Johansson was awarded the attention of a whole new generation. It was her love of acting as an infant. Smith's parents supported her in finding her first stage role when she was just six. Smith created a commercial for Dannon. In the same way as numerous young actresses, she began her stage career. She was involved in various USA productions while making her debut on stage in the company of Wildflower.
